National Aquarium - Plymouth

Totally tropical treat
In September 2009 the National Marine Aquarium hired a plane and bought back over 1,000 fish from Barbados with the aim of making the Atlantic Ocean exhibit the best stocked tank in Europe. Today you can see a captivating display of fish of all shapes, sizes and colours swimming in shoals or grazing on a sunken WWII sea plane. Take your time to take in the visual spectacular at three different viewing stations and you’re sure to get a unique and inspiring take on of what makes fish such fascinating animals – from the menacing Sand Tiger and Nurse Sharks to the graceful Eagle Rays to the mighty Tarpon and Barracuda they’ll be plenty to of activity to keep you transfixed. Then enjoy the delights of seven species of jellyfish in Ocean Drifters and pass through to the Shallows to see the native life of our shores – take part in activities in our Discovery Zone and enjoy one of the many talks given by our hosts.

Geevor Tin Mine

The underground tour takes you from the light into the dark; from the 20thC mine back to the early days of mining. The Hardrock museum tells the story of mining at Geevor. Experience the atmosphere of the miners’ dry which has been left exactly as it was when the last miner left. Look below the iconic Headgear; can you imagine getting in a cage and travelling to the bottom of the Victory shaft 480 metres below?

National Museum of Gardening

This is a remarkable celebration of Britain's great gardening heritage featuring the Country's largest and most comprehensive collection of gardening antiques, memorabilia and ephemera, creatively displayed in ten themed areas. "It alone is worth a long journey to see", RHS Garden Finder. Set in ten themed areas, this nostalgic display is believed to be the largest and most comprehensive collection of garden tools and memorabilia in the country. Exhibits date from the early 1800s and there are a vast collection of gardening tools, from the ever useful spade to the lawnmower, or the seed catalogue to rosettes won by the ordinary gardener. In the museum you will also see a large and extensive collection of garden related enamel signs, undoubtedly this collection is one of, if not the largest in the world!
